NDP - BAN asbestos - No Shameful Double Standard

The NDP is presently the only party in Parliament to adopt a policy in support of banning asbestos.

It's time for Mr. Harper and Mr. Ignatieff to end this shameful double standard: Our export of this dangerous product overseas has indeed got to stop.

Enough said: What Canadians see is that when it comes to conduct and ethics, neither Conservatives nor Liberals have a moral compass when dealing with this kind of matter.

Canadians have come to expect from the Harper Conservatives that their moral compass is lacking, but Liberals, well they protest too much.

Again, after another shameful about face by the Liberal leader - Mr. Ignatieff - it's fitting to remind Canadians, as York University political scientist James Laxer, leader of the NDP's former left-wing Waffle group, has written in another context but fits here as well:

"Ignatieff's slippery view of [ASBESTOS] could end by reminding people of what they like least about the Liberal party -- its tendency toward opportunism at the expense of principle."
