If anything became clear last week when Stephen Harper and Michael Ignatieff agreed they didn't want a summer election, it was that neither one of them has ever had to apply for employment insurance.
AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH (tales of elitism)
Poster on EI
is of no importance to either major party except as a political issue. It's not as if they are likely to require income support - the people they are dragging their feet on helping get to pay their salaries, even while they struggle to survive the delays and denials of the system. Mr. Ignatieff's interest in correcting the iniquities of the system now looks as if either he is totally insincere or just knows far less than he should about the workings of the system. The only party who have stuck to their guns and insisted that the EI system needs an immediate overhaul is the NDP. It is to be hoped that the voters currently affected by the political games at the top of the pyramid remember that, when we eventually do get a chance to cast ballots.
